Cauterization is a routine surgical procedure. It heats the body’s tissues using electricity in order to stop bleeding, remove abnormal growths and prevent an infection.
Immediately before your procedure, your SFENTA™ surgeon will place a grounding pad on your body to protect you from the electric current. From there, he or she will clean your skin and coat the treatment area with gel.
Depending on your procedure, local or general anesthesia will be administered. During the actual surgery, your physician will use a small probe with a mild electric current to seal or destroy the targeted tissue.
Your recovery process will depend on the extent and complexity of your surgery. Healing typically takes place in two to four weeks, though it can take longer if the treatment area was particularly large.
