Epley maneuver is a treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). It is particularly helpful for patients with vertigo that is triggered by certain head movements.
An Overview of the Epley Maneuver
Step one
Sit down with your legs flat in front of you. Turn your head 45 degrees to the right.
Step two
Lie down for 30 seconds, but keep your head turned to the right.
Step three
Turn your head 45 degrees to the left for 30 seconds.
Step four
Roll onto your left side, and then sit up.
Note: This example of the Epley maneuver is appropriate for problems on the right side of your body. If your BPPV affects your left ear, simply turn your head in the opposite direction as indicated in each step.
