Following the completion of his education, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health researching several chemotherapy medications currently being used in the treatment of Head and Neck cancer. He then successfully completed his formal Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Tx., a 5 year ACGME accredited institution serving as chief resident the last year of residency.

Francisco G. Pernas received a Bachelor in Science with a major in Biology and a chemistry minor from the University of Miami in 2001. He then pursued a degree in medicine at the University of Miami. Following that he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health researching several chemotherapy medications currently being used in the treatment of Head and Neck cancer. He then successfully completed his formal Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Tx., a 5 year ACGME accredited institution serving as chief resident the last year of residency.

Dr. Pernas excelled in his residency program achieving a high clinical volume in all aspects of Otolaryngologic care. He was awarded the Resident award in May 2011 for outstanding research amongst his colleagues and received a Pine award in February 2008 for excellence in Otolaryngology.
